ANDOVER, MASS. – In a continued effort to expand behavioral healthcare options for members, UniCare recently welcomed Talkspace, an online therapy service, to its behavioral health provider network.
Talkspace connects users to a dedicated, licensed therapist in their state through an easy-to-use, fully encrypted web and mobile platform that meets HIPAA, federal, and state regulatory requirements. UniCare members can use a phone or laptop to receive counseling, therapy, and/or medication services to treat and support anxiety, depression, trauma and grief, eating disorders, substance use disorder, and other conditions. Talkspace also offers specialized therapy for teenagers ages 13 to 17, in accordance with state requirements.
“Mental health is a critical part of a person’s whole health, which is why it’s important that we’re offering additional services to meet the unique health needs of each of our members,” said David Morales, general manager of UniCare. “We’re excited to add Talkspace as we continue to expand our network of behavioral health providers and services for our members in our efforts to support their whole health.”
With Talkspace, members can review their best personal provider match based on their intake assessment and preferences. Members can send text, voice, or video messages to their provider, who responds five days a week. Members can also book live sessions for real-time conversations. Through Talkspace Psychiatry, members can schedule a video appointment with an in-state, licensed provider who can help determine if medication* should be part of treatment.
