Am I eligible for NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid?
NJ FamilyCare is the name of New Jersey’s Medicaid program. It helps qualified residents get access to affordable health insurance. You may be eligible if you have limited income and are part of one of the following groups:

How do I enroll in NJ FamilyCare?
If you meet the eligibility requirements, you can enroll at any time. Simply follow these steps:

3. Choose Wellpoint as your health plan
Once approved, you can choose Wellpoint as your health plan by:
- Calling NJ FamilyCare at 800-701-0710 (TTY 711). Or
- Filling out the NJ FamilyCare Plan Selection Form and returning it in the envelope provided.

Want to switch to Wellpoint?
If you were assigned to a different health plan during enrollment, you have 90 days to choose another plan. You can also switch to Wellpoint during the annual open enrollment period from October 1 to November 15 each year. NJ FamilyCare will allow you to switch for other reasons, too, such as losing access to your doctor under your or your child’s current health plan.
To switch to Wellpoint, call NJ FamilyCare at 800-701-0710 (TTY 711) and follow the prompts. An enrollment specialist may come on the line to help you make the change.
