Unemployment and Medicaid
There is a health insurance plan for you
If you are in between jobs, you don't have to go without healthcare. There are low- to no-cost options for health insurance.
You may be able to get low- or no-cost health insurance through Medicaid.
Medicaid covers things like doctor visits, hospital stays, and prescriptions. These are at little to no cost to you. Medicaid works just like any other insurance. There are health plans and provider networks. You can apply for Medicaid through your state at any time. Enrollment is year-round.
If you don't qualify for Medicaid, you still have options.
Individual insurance is available through the Marketplace. You may even be able to get financial help to help cover the cost. Through the Marketplace, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. This period applies if you have lost health coverage through your job in the last 60 days.
