Wellpoint Virtual Care: Telehealth for you
With Wellpoint telehealth, or Wellpoint Virtual Care, you can chat with doctors on your computer, smartphone, or tablet. Most members can use telehealth with their Wellpoint plan, but make sure to check first. You can ask for a virtual care visit by logging into your Wellpoint account or use the Sydney℠ Health mobile app. You can get the app from the App Store or Google Play.
How do I know if I have Wellpoint Virtual Care?
Not everyone with Wellpoint can use Wellpoint Virtual Care. To see if you can use it, check in your member handbook or log in to your Wellpoint account and look for LiveHealth Online services. If you can't use Wellpoint telehealth, you can still get help. You can visit the Sydney Health app, log into your member portal, or do a basic search as a guest.
How do Wellpoint telehealth services work?
Wellpoint Virtual Care gives you access to several health care providers to make it easy for you to talk to doctors right away. Telehealth lets you chat with doctors about any health questions from your own home.
During your telehealth visit, you will chat with a health worker through a computer chat or a video call. It is safe and private. You can talk about your health and ask questions, just like when you see the doctor in person. They might also ask you some questions about how you feel, your health history, and any medicine you take. Then, they'll talk about your treatment options, which may include seeing a doctor in person.
Why should you use Wellpoint Virtual Care?
Wellpoint Virtual Care is a quick and easy way to get help for health problems that are not serious. It's a good choice for Individual and Family care, especially when you can’t see your normal doctor. It usually costs the same or even less than seeing a doctor in person.
Here are some usual health problems you can get help with using Wellpoint telehealth:
- Cold, flu, and fever
- Cough, sore throat, or strep throat
- Small skin rashes
- Eye, ear, or urinary tract infections
- Sinus infections or allergies
- Long-lasting health issues
Using Wellpoint telehealth might cost less than going to urgent care or the emergency room. It also helps prevent a long wait. But keep in mind, some health issues can’t be checked on the computer or phone. If you are very sick or badly hurt, the emergency room or the urgent care are the best places to get help.
Virtual behavioral health services
Wellpoint Virtual Care also lets you speak with mental health workers online. Many professionals do virtual visits to have private, comfortable options for mental healthcare. If you have a phone, tablet or computer and good internet, you can talk to a professional at home. You can connect with a therapist through the Sydney Health app or by logging into your member portal.
