Renew West Virginia Medicaid or WVCHIP
Keep your coverage. Be sure to renew your Medicaid or WVCHIP health plan each year so you’re always covered.
Ready to renew?
It’s quick and easy. Follow these steps to renew your benefits:
1. Check your mail
If you’re a Medicaid member — Expect a letter from the West Virginia Department of Human Services (DoHS) close to the date you enrolled last year to renew your coverage.
If you or your child is a WVCHIP member — After 10 months of WVCHIP coverage, you will receive a letter from your local DoHS office to redetermine eligibility.
2. Renew your WV benefits
Once you have your letter, you can renew your benefits by:
- Logging in to your PATH account. If you don’t have a PATH account, you can also make an account to renew your benefits.
- Visiting your local Department of Human Services (DoHS) office during the date and time on your renewal letter. If you can’t visit your local DoHS office during the specified time, please call the DoHS to reschedule a better time for you. If you haven’t received a letter, call or visit your local DoHS office.
- Calling the DoHS Customer Service Center at 877-716-1212.
Have you moved?
Do you have a new address, phone number, or any other important changes? Please let us know so we can properly notify you about your Wellpoint plan. You can update your information on your Optum GovID account or call the DoHS at 877-716-1212.
Did you lose your health coverage?
You can still reapply for Medicaid or WVCHIP. If you apply within 60 days from the date you lost coverage and are accepted, you’ll be reenrolled with Wellpoint.
If you’re unsure about how to reapply, please reach out to a live representative on the SydneySM Health app.
